How to clean hardwood floors with black tea

Keeping your hardwood floors clean and healthy is sometimes difficult. Mopping floors with artificial cleaners should definitely be avoided, especially if you have children or pets in your home. Artificial cleaner often consists of mixed toxic chemicals. Luckily, there is a healthier alternative. Strained black tea is a perfect natural solution. Not only does it clean your floors, it also provides a natural protection and shine. Cleaning your floors with black tea is easier than you think. Just follow these simple steps and you’ll have your floors cleaned in no time.

1. Get a hardwood mop
It doesn’t matter which kind of cleaning you use, having a special hardwood mop, with a flat head is essential. Look for a mop with washable or reusable pads. Our advice is to buy both large and small mop for larger and smaller spaces.

2. A box of black tea
There is a huge difference between black and any other tea. Black tea contains tannins. This ingredient gives your floor a bright shine. You will need approximately 3 bags of tea and 4 cups of boiling water. If your floor is especially dirty you can add a bag or two to your brew. Look for a tea with an interesting aroma. There are hundreds of flavours like ginger, lavender or lemon.

3. Water boiling
As we previously said you will have to boil 4 cups of water. Drop bags of tea into the boiling water and wait for 10 minutes. After you have removed tea bags, you can transfer tea to the bowl or a bucket.

4. Start cleaning
Make sure your tea is hot, but not too hot to touch. Place your hardwood floor cleaning pad into the bucket with tea. The pad should be completely soaked. Place the soaked pad on the hardwood cleaning tool and mop the floor.
